Do you ever have days where you’re like “my life feels like a sitcom right now.” Because that happened to me today.
I was getting in the elevator after work and finishing my half sandwich I had leftover from lunch. Why I was in such a rush to eat the last bite as I hopped into the elevator…I don’t know.
I’ve been at my job for 5 years now and probably 5% of the time someone from the 2nd or 1st floor hops in and rides down to the garage with me. Well of COURSE as soon as I popped the last bite in, I felt the elevator stop on the second floor. Not wanting to be caught chewing like a fat ass I immediately took the bite out of my mouth and placed it back into my napkin. And just like in a tv sitcom, the cute guy from the second floor got in (when I say cute I just mean he’s under the age of 40 and in my building).
So there I stood… sandwich napkin in one hand trying to act as natural as I could. This is a guy that I’ve been in the elevator with before and he NEVER talks. He’s very quiet and shy. I’d be lucky if I got a “have a good night” from him when we stepped out together. But today he decides he wants to chat it up. With my half chewed bite slyly in my hand and a Monster energy drink in the other he says,
“I don’t know how you drink those energy drinks this late. I would be up all night! I can’t even have a diet coke past noon!”
“haha,” I laughed, “this does nothing to me. It must be nice to drink caffeine and actually have it work on you. I swear I’m immune.”
We got off the elevator together and walked to our cars which just happen to be parked right next to each other. He jumped in his brand new Audi A5 and I hopped in my Honda Accord with a dented, f*cked up door.
