Ugh Weight Gain

Well…. I’ve got some bad news to share: I’ve gained some weight. If you’re a reader who also gets to see me in person sometimes, I’m sure you’ve noticed. I just got back from a trip back home to visit my parents. And my mom is filipina and I think that makes her more brutally honest than the norm. But she straight up told me, you are fat. Which is fine… I know I’m 10lbs heavier than I was about 6 months ago. I’m 20lbs heavier than I was a year ago. Soooo I’m sure it’s noticeable. I notice it a lot. How my clothes fit, how I look in the mirror, how I feel. Blahhhhh
Sucks.

So anyway…this week it’s back to dieting. Only healthy food and trying to get workouts in a few times a week. When you say it out loud it seems SO easy. Like okay stop being lazy and just do it. But when you hate working out, love fatty food, and have a boyfriend who doesnt think you’re fat and doesnt judge you for all the food you eat, it’s hard! haha
But I know it needs to be done. I had fun the past few months eating like shit. And now I am paying the price. I’ll keep you posted on how it goes.

I’m Like… A Runner Now

I did it! I completed my first ever 10K!! I’m very proud of myself. I finished the 6.2 miles in an hour and 33 minutes. The first mile of the race I felt I was at a great pace and I felt good about how I was doing. But then right at a mile both my shins and calves cramped up and I couldn’t have run more if I wanted to. It sucked. I met up with my girlfriend Emily and we pushed each other the whole rest of the way. We’d walk then after a bit we’d run too. It was definitely a doable pace.
When I crossed the finish line I felt amazing. I had pushed myself and done something new and different and really pushed myself physically and mentally.
After doing my first race Im def open to doing more and keeping the training up.

Pre 10K Thoughts

I’m running my first EVER 10K today!!! And by running I mean I’m walking my first ever 10K. Haha jk. I’m going to try to run as much as I can.
My thoughts include: “it’s so freaking early to be up (5am) , I hate running why am I doing this??, so nervous my legs are going to cramp up too early, it’s only like 6.2 miles. I can totally do this!”
It’s in Santa Cruz and it’s all women only. So I’m sure it’ll be very empowering. I didn’t train as much as I should have. 😦 I would run maybe once or twice a week. And do 2.5 miles max. So today will def be interesting. Luckily I’m with my two best friends and they aren’t looking to beat or make a certain time. So we can run/walk most of it with no pressure.
I’ll let you know how it goes! I am excited to be doing something new and different like this. Woo!

I Hate Running

running

I’m training for a 10K on March 22!!

I started officially training this week. I took a break from working out since like…. June of 2014. haha So it’s going to be slow getting back into it. But I’m excited about working out again and getting back in shape.
First day of training I ran about half a mile straight without stopping. Terrible…I know. But then day 2 of training I did 1 mile straight without stopping. So… I know in time my distance will improve.
I’ll keep you posted on how the training goes.

Right now I’ve been running on the treadmill at the gym, which I really hate. All I can think about is that I’m running when I’m on that thing. I prefer to run outside. But since it’s dark when I get off work, I can only do the weekends outside.
Okay I’ve babbled enough. Cheers to getting back in shape!!

Skinny Fat

“Babe, I weighed myself this morning and I’m down to 189. Skinny fat! haha!” – This is what my boyfriend texted me today.

He is dropping pounds left and right since we started dating. And I’m here, not losing anything! You may recall when I blogged about The Boyfriend Diet 3 years ago.
Turns out….that diet doesn’t work on me anymore. Darnit! The rumors are true. Once you feel comfortable with a guy and you know he loves you no matter what, you don’t feel that pressure to eat like a bird around him.

I’m happy that he’s losing weight. Good for him 🙂 And I want to look my best for him as well. So it’s important to at least get your workouts in weekly so you don’t gain A TON of weight because you’re so comfortable with him. This is what I keep reminding myself every day.

You’re probably wondering how my morning workouts have been going. Well…haven’t started yet. BUT! I swear I am going to. Starting tomorrow! Saturday! lol
