I watched the Oscars last night and was truly amused the whole way through! Maybe it’s because I’m a fan of Ellen and I get her humor, but I LOVED the show last night. I woke up this morning thinking all media outlets would be raving about her! And that this show would be the most viewed Oscars EVER! That’s how much I enjoyed it…
But instead I’m reading negative reviews about Ellen as host on The Hollywood Reporter and CNN to name a few. Like what the fuuuuuuuck? Maybe the show was too relatable to my generation and not the old uptight peeps out there. The younger kids can just relate to ordering pizza, tweeting, and taking selfies. Hence, we loved it!!!!
Usually at every Oscars show there’s some opening number or musical bit but Ellen didn’t do any of that and I was totally okay with it! Her opening monologue was hilarious just all on it’s own. And didn’t feel forced or awkward like other comedians tend to be with the pressure of being host.
Highlights of last night’s Oscars show were:
-Ellen’s opening monologue
-Ellen taking a selfie with some of the biggest names in Hollywood and basically broke twitter for 10 minutes because so many people were trying to retweet the photo
-Jared Leto’s acceptance speech when he won Best Supporting Actor for Dallas Buyers Club. OMG. SO GOOD!
– Ellen ordering pizza and passing it around to all the A-List actors/directors/writers
-Brad Pitt passing out paper plates
Lupita Nyong’o’s acceptance speech for Best Supporting Actress in 12 Years Of Slave
No Oscar show is ever going to be perfect. I get that. And last night’s show was definitely not perfect. But I think it was one of the most amusing Academy Awards to date.
