I went and saw Zac Efron’s new movie “The Lucky One” tonight with some friends. I hadn’t read the book beforehand so I had no idea what to expect. All I knew was that Zac Efron had beefed up for this role and looked gorgeous.
The movie was good. I was entertained the whole way through. There were some eye-rolling moments but that happens during any romantic movie. “This is SO not real life.” Zac Efron was amazing (and by amazing I mean he is HOT). The blonde chick (Taylor Schilling ) seemed to fit her character perfectly. I just wasn’t WOWed by the story line. Don’t get me wrong…. it’s worth seeing. I just didn’t love it as much as I hoped I would. All of the Nicholas Sparks novels that they turn into films (Dear John, The Lucky One, The Last Song, Nights In Rodanthe) are always enjoyable and romantic to watch, but I think the story lines just come off so basic on film…they don’t come off as touching as they do in the book. The Notebook is the only one that ever came close.
