“I think we’re all capable of being a hero. We all have it inside of us. But sometimes we arent given the opportunity.” – This is what my yoga instructor told us yesterday during the beginning of our class. He was discussing the 9/11 specials and footage on all the different news channels this last weekend.

He was telling us how after the first attack on New York, captains and crews of a large number of local boats all came into the attack zone to assist in the evacuation. These random boat crews had never practiced this, had never prepared for such an event, but somehow 300,000 to 1,000,000 people were evacuated from lower Manhattan by water. He said it so beautifully I wish I could quote him exactly. But basically it was that all of us, as humans, have it in us to be a hero. To help out a stranger in a time of crisis because it’s the right thing to do. It’s a natural instinct that just comes over us.

I just love that notion. As we walk around day to day, passing hundreds of people we will never speak to or ever connect with…it’s amazing to think that at any moment, a random person could save our lives. Or that we would save theirs.

The video above shows a guy being saved by nearby strangers, when he was stuck under a burning car just a few days ago. Everyone came together, without knowing the kid, without knowing each other, risking their own lives, to lift this car and pull  him out. It’s truly a beautiful thing.

I can’t even tell you how many vhs tapes I have filled with recordings of Pop Up Videos from VH1 from back in the day. Not only is VH1 returning with Pop Up Videos, but they are kicking it off with the first one being Britney Spears’ video for TTWE. Omgosh LOVE! So fun! Check it out.

Does anyone else think the BING commercials are super dumb? I think it’s a total fail in advertising. They just come across as annoying with everyone staring off into space and jumping from different topic to topic. I get what BING was trying to say…but it just doesn’t work for me.

Summer is overrrrrrrr

I can’t believe it’s already September and summer (in my mind) is officially over! Wow time flies.
I feel I can take a huge breather and just sit back and smile remembing everything I got to do this summer. It was jammed packed…but so worth it. I’m relieved to just chill out, enjoy the fall, and watch the holiday season sneak up on me.

Who’s excited for boots and scarfs?? 🙂

2011 MTV Video Music Awards

I have been watching the MTV VMAs since 1998 if I had to guess? I really only remember 2000 when Britney Spears performed with NSync and the pop music obsession for me began.

Well flash forward to over 10 years later and I got the pleasure of going to this years MTV Music Awards! I can’t even express how freaking excited I was. Not only was I going, but I got to stand in the pit! Dreams of me slapping hands with all the different artists as they came down the stage and me getting on television filled my nights of sleep. Unfortunately, none of that happened but that’s ok! It was still an amazing experience. I loved seeing how everything went on behind the scenes. From the stage crew setting up for the next performance while Lady Gaga was presenting Britney Spears with a lifetime achievement awards, watching the back up dancers pump themselves up before going out on stage as they stood right next to me, to the announcer yelling out “30 seconds till show people. 30 seconds. Please get to your seats”.

I pretty much stared at Justin Bieber, Selena Gomez, Taylor Lautner and Britney Spears during every commercial break. It was just too surreal. See posts below for my comments on the different VMA performances this year.

Speak Now

I went to the Taylor Swift concert in Los Angeles Friday night. I had been waiting for this night for MONTHS. I seriously bought my tickets 6 months ago? I thought this day would never come.

The concert was everything I had hoped it would be. Words can’t express how much her concert meant to me. When there’s a music artist where every song touches your heart in one way or another…and you listen to their songs over and over again…when you get to see that person perform live, the feeling is so overwhelming. And Taylor Swift doesnt just stand up there with a guitar and sing…she puts on a magical theatrical show. Even if you arent a Taylor fan, if you were to experience her concert…you would walk away entranced and impressed.

My favorite songs of the night were Dear John, Last Kiss, Better Than Revenge, Love Story, Fifteen, Speak Now, Back To December… okay so pretty much the whole concert. I didnt know what to expect when she performed Dear John..and I had not watched any spoilers because I wanted the experience to be an absolute surprise to me. But Dear John (song she wrote to John Mayer after they dated) was SO heart wrenching. She stood up there and during the ending lyrics of “I’m shining like fireworks over your sad empty town” she let off actual fireworks at the show. It was a breathtaking moment.

Every song, every set and every dress she came out in was so amazing. As she walked out into the audience and gave her fans hugs, autographs and handshakes, you couldnt help but feel goosebumps and in my case…start to cry. haha I was emotional through probably 70% of the show. Her songs hit home, they touch you, and to see her live…is absolutely emotional. I love her so much. More than I’ve ever loved any other artist. And I think it’s because I know that every lyric she sings is something that has actually happened to her personally and they are her true feelings and experiences. When you listen to a music artist knowing that, it’s so touching.

All and all her concert was amazing (clearly) and I can’t wait to go to all her other ones in the future!

Let’s discuss…

this new facebook feature where they list all the contacts in your phone and link it to their facebook profiles. You can go through your facebook contact list…and if someone is in your phone, has a facebook page, but you arent their friend on facebook, it’ll ask you to add them as a friend.

Kind of amazing.

For people like me who have names in their phone under “jersey shore guy”, “hot tub guy” “Tom from the bar” “Creeper-dont answer” …etc.. this little feature comes in handy.

As I was scrolling through the list on facebook I noticed there was one guy who was in my telephone but I was not friends with on facebook. So I sent him a friend request. He looked super hot in his picture…but not familiar at all.

Sure enough, he accepted, and as I looked through the rest of his pictures I STILL had no clue who he was. So I did the next logical step, I called the number linked to his facebook profile knowing whatever I had him listed as in my phone would pop up. I dialed the number, hit send…and guess what name popped up? “Guy I Met At Club Haute-LA.”

Me and ‘Guy I Met At Club Haute- LA’ are officially facebook friends now. Ohhh joy!! Luckily, once I saw the contact name I immediately remembered who he was. And all the memories of why I didn’t continue talking with this guy came flooding back. :-/
